Unashamedly Arthurlie with a soft spot for Neilston and Arthurlie United. Plusroundups on the other mobs.

And, of course, the latest odds from Rasher the Pig.

Andy is one of the co-presenters on The Magazine Show. Andy lends a mature, yet naïve, slant to radio presenting.

He is also a solo musician/writer/performer in the acclaimed acoustic style, also playing with several musical combos; usually as a percussionist (but also thrust up front for the odd song or two) notably with Kazoo, Cold Shot and local band, The Skunnered.

About the show:

A mix of good tunes from the 60′s onwards..good guitar pop/northern soul and an artist of the evening every week with a slant on Scottish music- not the highland kilt type of stuff.

Show times: Filling in the gaps on the “Mumbling Around Midnight” slot until a vacancy arises. Check out my facebook page for updates and show times.

About the show: My own mix of favourites from times gone by to current indie and mainstream talent, and some oddities along the way.

From Admiral Fallow to Zappa and all the extremities in between (no Beatles tho’). I’ll play your requests and do my best to showcase new, up and coming Scottish bands.

Biog: I love music, guitars, climbing, motorbikes and my family. Director of an acoustics company and inventor of award winning midge busting machine. My past glories include winning the Biggart Baillie Innovation Award in 2008, spending 44 hours in a glass box above the Howwood Inn to raise money for Yorkhill Hospital as my alter ego Bobinabox, and my current big boy project which involves not quite getting to the top of all of Scotlands munros as my new creation the MunroBlagger.

My favourite quote at the moment is “Good advice is something a man gives when he is too old to set a bad example”

1: Describe yourself in 5 words.

Son, Heir, Shyness, Criminally, Vulgar

2: What is the best song ever written?

Simple Twist of Fate by Bob Dylan. That’s an impossible question to answer, but I’ve just done it.

3: Complete the following sentence:

“The world would be a better place if …… We listened to Dylan, Morrissey and Nick Cave every day. And some Ivor Cutler too.”

4: Describe your perfect day.

Sunday. Every time.

5: What’s in the perfect sandwich?

A nice strong cheddar with beetroot on wholemeal bread. I thought I’d answer that one literally.

Show times: Saturdays, 4 till 5

About the show: Expect the unexpected. Tunes are played according to a theme. Themes vary wildly (past highlights have included “Anarchy” and “Hypothetical Party in a Garage”) and most likely we’ll contrive some reason to play Arcade Fire, because we love them, and cheesy 90s dance, because you love it, and you know you do.

1: Describe yourself in 5 words.

Usually a little too loud.

2: What is the best song ever written?

Might have to go for a classic and say Stairway To Heaven, although honourable mentions to One Week by the Barenaked Ladies and Friday I’m In Love by The Cure

3: Complete the following sentence:

“The world would be a better place if …… People took everything about 20% less seriously.”

4: Describe your perfect day.

Lou Reed already has.

5: What’s in the perfect sandwich?

I’d go for cream cheese on toasted stonebaked ciabatta with red onion, chargrilled red pepper, basil, sunblush tomatoes and pesto.

Carolynne McKendry

I’m a healthy, happy woman, coming to terms with being middle-aged and thoroughly enjoying working and broadcasting in East Renfrewshire. And I watch way too much telly…
