Pulse MC

East Renfrewshire Schools get involved. Mearns Castle secondary set up ‘Pulse MC’.

All East Renfrewshire Schools are invited to get involved with the station and the pupils at Mearns Castle secondary have already jumped at the opportunity. They have set up their own radio team (known as ‘Pulse MC’).

Their aim is to represent Mearns Castle on Pulse at various points in the year. The pupils will be learning a number of new skills using sound-recording and radio equipment, researching themes, writing articles, conducting interviews and presenting live on Pulse 98.4.

Miss Borland and Mr Cairns are the two members of staff who are helping to develop the team. Their first assignment is to create a 20-minute programme based around the success of the Senior Concert Band over the last few years. They have been busy conducting interviews, designing their logo and creating their very own branded jingles.

Staff and pupils at Mearns Castle should look out for the team during Charities week and the Winter Concert, as they will be going around with recording equipment and notepads – you may be asked for an interview!
